I would like to tell you a little about my exerience. First of all, I’m Tagan Pollock, the director of Infiniti Baton Twirling & Guard. I started baton twirling when I was 8 years old and competed in the United States Twirling Association (USTA) until I was 15. Since then I have performed in the WMU Marching band in the color guard and as the feature twirler and coached private lessons in baton twirling and color guard (flag and rifle). I have also coached middle school and high school cheerleading for 5 years. Along with that I write choreography, teach, and tech for high schools and winter guards in Michigan.

 

When I competed in baton twirling I won 4 Michigan State Championships over 9 Regional Championship Titles, over 11 National Championships, and in 2004 my pairs partner Laureen and I were awarded the Gold medal for the U.S. Team (USTA) and traveled to Osaka, Japan for the World Championships in which we placed 4th. Although these are great accomplishments for anyone I had a coach that always said “Titles don’t make you a good person.” I wholeheartedly agree with her wisdom. I have had many great opportunities to travel and meet great people through the sport of baton twirling and that it was has made me who I am today. It is my goal to give as many students as possible those opportunities as well.

 

I like to have fun, exciting camps and classes while maintaining the goals the students set for themselves. It’s important for students to do what they love. As adults I know we’ve all experienced, at some point, that hope to have a job or career we loved. Luckily, I get to work with some of the best people and students and I LOVE IT!

 

My husband is very supportive of me and my students. We have been married for three great years. We love to participate in outdoor activities such as camping, swimming, fishing, snowboarding, and traveling in general. We are both in the Michigan National Guard however, I will be done very soon.

 

I'm a very lucky woman and I'm so glad I have many great people in my life!
